Niagara Falls

My only experience of Canada thus far was an overnight trip from New York to Niagara Falls. I was staying in New York for a few days after a cruise out of the city to Bermuda, and having fallen in love with the city on a previous visit, I wanted to cram as much as possible in, but equally, I wanted to take the opportunity to get up to Niagara Falls as well.

From Manhattan, it’s basically an all day coach trip up there, and you spend the evening exploring Niagara town, seeing the falls at night. You then get up, do the Maid of the Mist in the morning, (The Maid of the Mist is a boat tour out to the falls. You are given a plastic poncho, but realistically, you are going to get wet. In my opinion it adds to the fun.) and then spend that entire day travelling back. Unfortunately I went with a well known tourist company, and unfortunately I had a lot of problems with the tour itself, and on my return to the UK I complained to them. They however felt the solution was to ignore my emails and block me on social media, so I won’t be using them again. Saying that though, the actual falls and the town are divine and I would definitely go again so let’s focus on the positive and not the negative!

I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent person. I like to think that I’m pretty articulate but as I stop and think now about that trip, I am struggling to find the words to describe it. It almost feels like a dream. I remember the noise and I remember being blown away by the entire experience but I can’t seem to find the words to do it justice. Of all the things I’ve done in my life, and the places I’ve been fortunate enough to see, this is definitely one of the top ones, and one I would definitely encourage you to try and do once in your lifetime.

As I am struggling so much to find the words, I’ve decided to shut up now, and just share some of my pictures instead, as that will do it far more justice than my poor words ever will!
